Clinical Research in Primary Care

Rothschild House Group actively supports clinical research studies within primary care.  Clinical research is a major driver of innovation and helps to maintain and develop the standard of patient outcomes.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research

The Department of Health set up the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in 2006. The goal of the NIHR is to improve people’s health and support the economy through research.

To provide the NIHR with the support and resources needed to work towards this goal, the NIHR Clinical Research Network (CRN) was introduced.

To find out more about the NIHR go to their website.

What is Primary Care Research?

The CRN Primary Care branch works alongside researchers and primary care practitioners such as GPs, practice nurses and pharmacists to help deliver successful research studies within the NHS.

Patients can sometimes gain access to new treatments by participating in research studies.

Examples of what these research studies look at include:

  • Promoting a healthier lifestyle
  • Disease diagnosis and prevention
  • Management of long-term illnesses such as diabetes or hypertension
  • Prevention of future ill-health
  • Treating common conditions such as tonsillitis or influenza

Participating in Research at Rothschild House Group

Patients registered at Rothschild House Group may be invited to take part in research studies by a clinician.

All clinical research carried out at Rothschild House Group is in line with ethical standards. Participation is entirely voluntary. The clinician asking you to participate in the research will be able to provide additional information on what your participation in the study will involve.
